Top 10 One Foot in the Grave episodes ranked

One Foot in the Grave was famed for its surreal humour and witty comical satire. But which episodes come out on top? Fans went right back to the start and reviewed every single episode of the hit BBC sitcom ranking their favourite 10 shows.

Set in the South of England fans were taken on a journey of Victor’s early retirement. It first aired back in 1990 and continued for over a decade.

There were six episodes per season, which created a total of 36. However, due to popular demand, the BBC produced seven Christmas specials.

It was created and written by David Renwick and aired on BBC One and at its peak the show attracted 18 million viewers. Meanwhile, the British sitcom starred the likes of Richard Wilson and Annette Crosbie, catapulting them into fame - Wilson, 88, played Victor Meldew who was the epitome of a bitter, archetypal grumpy old man.

Meldrew’s dreary and insufferable attitude about life appeared to only attract bad luck. He was often caught troubling his wife or annoying his next-door neighbours with his sly antics which often led to misunderstandings and confrontations.

The final show fell in the Top 10, which sees Margaret get annoyed by Victor's incessant grumbling and flies off the handle.

Viewers were left shocked as he lured her into considering an affair with Ben, a holiday acquaintance. Margeret ends up meeting him for drinks but returns home to find another woman in her bed.

Coming in at number nine is an episode where the Meldrews become blown away when they answer their door to Mr. Foskett. He surprises the duo and requests to stay at their humble abode.

But they barely know him after the couple briefly met him 17 years ago when they stayed in the same guest house - so his arrival is certainly a surprise.

Meanwhile, the eighth show sees Victor pick up a brand new job which left viewers howling.

He decided to work as a hotel doorman – which proved to be complex as he has no desire to earn a hard days' graft.

Ultimately he does not want to work and does everything in his power to kick back and do the bare minimum.

During the seventh most memorable episode, The Meldrews and beloved Mrs. Warboys embark upon a hellish holiday to Portugal.

After heading to the beautiful town of Villamora, Portugal they end up getting entangled with the police and are forced to stay at a very unpleasant villa.
