Coronation Street: Paul passes away in emotional scenes
Coronation Street viewers have been left in tears as Paul Foreman died - and in a devastating twist Billy Mayhew missed his husband's final moments.
After a battle with Motor Neurone Disease for nearly 18 months, Paul reached the end of his life during Monday's (September 9) episode of the ITV soap leaving fans devastated.
Paul's (played by Peter Ash) last moments unfolded when a hangover Billy (Daniel Brocklebank) was teased by his adoptive daughter Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby) when he realised he had misplaced his phone, which held all his cherished memories of Paul.
With Summer and Paul's mother Bernie Winter (Jane Hazlegrove) taking over the care of Paul, Billy set off to retrace his steps. He and a similarly exhausted David (Jack P. Shepherd) returned to the hotel together, eventually locating his damaged phone and heading to a shop for a replacement.
Meanwhile, back at the flat, Paul was struggling to breathe. When Bernie recognised that Paul could die that day, her younger son Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) hurriedly left to find Billy, as they had no means of reaching him.

Summer dialled for an ambulance, but it took 15 minutes to arrive. During the agonising wait, Paul managed to whisper Billy's name, yearning to see his husband.
Bernie pleaded with trainee paramedic Asha Alahan (Tanisha Gorey) and her colleague to keep Paul alive for as long as possible while he was transported to hospital.
As Paul's health took a sudden turn, his husband Billy was out looking for a lost phone and had no idea of the events unfolding at home.
Bernie, Summer and Kit tried to find Billy but when he eventually found out Paul had been rushed to the hospital - it was all too late.
The family started saying their goodbyes to Paul as Billy raced to the hospital. He eventually stopped to speak to Paul over the phone, but he had already taken his last breath in a heartbreaking scene.
Coronation Street fans have been left heartbroken over Paul's death. Taking to social media, one Corrie fan wrote: "Truly moving story line for deep understand, reflection and compassion for all MND sufferers and there families #CoronationStreet."
A second added: "Ugly crying in full swing after that episode of #coronationstreet Absolutely heart breaking #corrie."
A third stated: "This has been one of my all-time favourite story lines Coronation Street has done. Only a show like Corrie can do the long form storytelling needed to convey the horrors of a disease like that. Everyone involved has been fantastic throughout. Bravo."
