Coronation Street enthusiasts are speculating that Carla Connor (portrayed by Alison King) could end up getting attacked after becoming the next target of Joel Deering (played by Callum Lill).

In a recent episode, viewers saw Joel released from police custody due to lack of evidence, much to the dismay of DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers), his ex-fiancee Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown), and victim Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton).

Despite Joel's release, the trio remain resolute in their quest for justice. Carla is incensed when she encounters him at the Chariot Square Hotel in an upcoming episode.

Official spoilers reveal that Carla while meeting a potential supplier at the hotel, spots Joel and immediately confronts him.

Joel is infuriated to see Dee-Dee there as well and makes another unsettling comment which the lawyer promptly reports to Swain, reports the Manchester Evening News.

In a fit of rage, she publicly accuses him of attempting to murder Lauren.

Carla's encounter with Joel follows his latest threat to Lauren, made during a hospital visit to their son Frankie.

Upon learning that Joel previously worked for Walcotts, a firm specialising in assisting vulnerable young people, Carla embarks on her own investigation.

What damning evidence will she unearth, and will it be enough to make the charges against him stick this time?

However, one observant fan believes that Callum may target Carla next - but could she indeed be his next victim?

A fan floated a new theory on a Facebook group devoted to Coronation Street, sparking a flurry of speculation: "So apparently in one of next week's episodes Carla sees Joel at Chariot Square Hotel and calls him out by telling everyone he tried to murder Lauren and abuses young women, I'm thinking he will try cornering her at the factory and threatening her or will try attacking her or Betsy and hopefully DS Swain will turn up and arrest him, l just hope he doesn't go near Lauren son."

Fans on the thread were buzzing with theories, with one querying: "I wonder if he has taken a female there? " Another theorised: "I think it's the lawyer he's using to try and get custody of Lauren's son."

Calls for justice resounded with a plea from another member: "Someone please find evidence against Joel to put him in the frame, going on too long now."

The conversation heated up as yet another chimed in: "This is getting juicy."

Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8pm on ITV.
