BBC presenter mispronounces Sherwood

The second series of hit crime drama series Sherwood continued on BBC One on Sunday evening, but before the drama could even begin, viewers pointed out an error.

Fans took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to declare that the continuity announcer had mispronounced the name of the show before it began at 9pm.

One person asked the BBC: "@BBCOne why does the continuity announcer before #Sherwood call it "Sharewood?"

Another confused X user expressed: "Should rename it Shearwood ! #Sherwood."

Somebody else joked: "Cherwood? Thought it was Sherwood #Sherwood," along with a crying tears of laughter emoji.

Yet another viewer fumed: "Where the flippin’ heck is ‘Sharewood’? #sherwood."

While a fifth added: "Should rename it Shearwood ! #Sherwood."

The second series kicked off in August, as British actor Robert Lindsay joined the cast as his character Franklin Warner.

During an appearance on BBC Breakfast prior to the show airing, the My Family star admitted he wanted to be a part of the series from the first outing.

He expressed: " I was desperate to be in series one, I can't tell you. I hadn't seen it when it was shown, when I was invited to lunch by James Graham, the writer, and he offered me a role in the second series I binge-watched the first one.

"It blew my mind. And actually it hurt, because I thought, you know, I'm from Nottingham, and I went through that whole thing, you know, that was going on in Nottingham at the time.

"So it was very personal to me. Unfortunately there wasn't a role in there and it had already been cast. But now I'm in the second series and there's a long story attached to it."

Sherwood continues next Sunday at 9pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
