This Morning: Joel Dommett under pressure as wife appears on show

This Morning's Dan Hatfield worried he'd overstepped the mark as he made an exceptionally rare offer to one lucky caller.

The TV star often delights ITV fans when he appears on the programme, hosting a phone-in to discuss collectable items and offering up an estimation to those who are seeking his advice, in the popular Trash or Treasure segment.

However, one lucky caller on Thursday (August 22) was given an offer she simply couldn't refuse. Paula had contacted the programme to find out how much her family collection could be if it went to auction.

Dan had been impressed with her family heirlooms, asking: "How did your family acquire all of this?" She told him: "Bootsales."

"That is my favourite way to a find bargain, I absolutely love a car-boot sale. You've got loads of different things here," the expert replied.

Dan was so astounded by her antiques because there were so many, he began totting up "£150" for this and "£100" for that when he realised the valuation was far too large to discuss over the phone.

Halting the show, he said: "It's not so much about quality, it's quantity in this case so the more you have the more it's worth." He pondered for a moment before adding: "What is it worth?... because we've got an awful lot here. I wouldn't like to nail my colours to the mat because there's so much."

Dan then announced: "What I'd love to do, if we could, is to come and visit you so that we can do this in person?"

"Ohh yes, I'll put the kettle on," cheerfully chimed Paula before Dan interrupted: "There's just one thing, I'll be bringing a camera crew, is that alright?" The caller responded: "Yeah, that's fine."

Host Rochelle Humes and Joel Dormett were gobsmacked as they both gasped when Dan offered up a home visit.

The two presenters have been filling the boots of usual hosts Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley who are currently taking some time out from ITV duties over the summer. It is anticipated that they'll both be back on-screens during the first week of September.

Both Ben and Cat will no doubt be feeling a touch down beat after their This Morning hosting efforts failed to impress this year, with neither star being nominated for a National Television Award in the main host category.

They first splashed screens as a duo back in March of this year after replacing long-standing presenters Holly Willoughby and Philip Schofield, who both stepped down from their roles in 2023.

The NTA Awards have often been referred to as the "biggest night in TV" and with the news that Ben and Cat didn't receive a nomination this year, like their predecessors will no doubt be a bit of a blow for the newcomers.

This Morning airs weekdays on ITV1, from 10am.
