Jeff Brazier says he needs Freddy's help

Celebrity Race Across The World star Jeff Brazier touched the hearts of viewers when he opened up about his late ex-wife, Jade Goody, during an emotional moment on the show.

In a candid reflection whilst competing with his son Freddy on the hit BBC series, Jeff bravely spoke about the impact of Jade's passing on their family.

Jade, famed for her television appearances, succumbed to cervical cancer in 2009 aged just 27, leaving behind sons Bobby and Freddy who were five and four years old at the time.

Wednesday's episode saw Jeff sharing the formidable challenge he faced as a single father after the devastating loss, remarking poignantly: "I think when the boys lost their mum I really doubled down on putting all of my time, effort, attention, focus on my children."

Jeff continued to reveal his enduring commitment to his sons, expressing: "I needed to be there, helping them to navigate whatever the future was going to look like for them given their loss. And I'm still playing that role. But yeah the more Fred does for himself, I know that he can start to push on in life."

Adding depth to the episode, Jeff sought solace and perspective amidst stunning landscapes, using the opportunity to ponder if it was time for a shift in his approach to parenthood as he journeyed through his own grieving process.

Jeff confessed: "It's hard to switch off and sometimes I think I'm being too serious. Just everything is my responsibility, and it has been for such a long time, because I think as a man you probably don't rate your chances of coping, so you do what comes naturally to you which is to take all the responsibility and just focus on the situation."

He admitted: "I have absolutely 100 percent lost the ability to play but I think that it's something that I need to regain. I think I need Freddy to show me really, and I need to get back to... I need to get back to what I used to be."

Reassuring himself, Jeff reflected: "I'm sure that's possible."

Moved by the emotional TV moment, fans overwhelmed social medianow dubbed X with messages of support, proclaiming their tear-filled reactions and how they had been touched by the father-son bond.

"I honestly cannot put into words how much I love Jeff Brazier," one fan wrote, while another shared, "Anyone else crying at Freddy and Jeff Brazier? Because I'm a mess."

A third person commended, "Jeff opening up on taking things seriously and his responsibility as a father since Jade's passing. This moment is so heartbreaking. Jeff you're the best dad to your children and Jade would be proud."

Viewers were left utterly charmed by Jeff Brazier's appearance, with comments flooding in such as: "Jeff and Fred. I can't cope with them," and another adding praise for the late Jade Goody's choice: "So adorable, Jade Goody chose well with Jeff Brazier. He is a really impressive man."

Race Across the World, the celebirty special airs on BBC One, on Wednesday's from 9pm.
