Celebrity MasterChef: Chloe Burrows struggles identifying duck

The latest instalment of Celebrity MasterChef was flooded with complaints by unimpressed viewers. The hit BBC programme returned to screens for its fourth instalment on Tuesday evening (August 20), with presenters Gregg Wallace and John Torode critiquing another set of stars.

Facing the second set of heats were Gladiators and Team GB sprinter Harry Aikines-Aryeetey, former EastEnders star Danielle Harold, comedian Eshaan Akbar, actor Rochenda Sandall and TV personality Chloe Burrows. For their first task, the celebrities had 60 minutes to create a dish that celebrated a secret ingredient they had selected from silver domes.

Ahead of the challenge, Love Island star Chloe confessed: "My friends laughed their heads off when I said I was doing MasterChef! I'm just very nervous about this first bit, but after that - see you at the final!"

The 28-year-old was the first to select her main ingredient, but appeared to have no idea what it was. "What's that? Is it fish? Or is it steak? Some sort of meat," she asked.

Laughing, John responded: "Yeah... Very good." Chloe begged to know what was in front of her, leading the chef to hint: "It goes quack."

The reality star quickly realised she was holding duck breasts. Later, Chloe voiced concern about leaving the judges with food poisoning as she said: "What if they [the judges] go home, think they're OK then wake up tomorrow violently unwell because of my cooking? There's a lot at stake here."

John later probed Chloe about why she signed up for the show, to which she replied: "Because I want to learn to cook. I don't want to keep getting take-aways. I like cooking when I have a recipe."

Gregg immediately pointed out that Chloe wasn't in possession of a recipe, asking: "So what outcome are you hoping for here?" Pointing at the duck in the pan, Chloe quipped: "That that's not raw, and that you guys love it."

Not all viewers were pleased by Chloe's comments as they took to X to question why she signed up for the show. One wrote: "'Why are you here?' Chloe Burrows, Ex Love Island contestant: 'Because I want to learn to cook'. Right. #CelebrityMasterChef."

A second moaned: "Chloe comes on #celebritymasterchef because she wants to learn how to cook? Really? What's wrong with watching YouTube videos like the rest of us."

Another fumed: "#CelebrityMasterChef That Love Island Chloe came to Masterchef to learn to cook! Tough order and wrong show... Does she have any of H's talent?"

Just minutes into the programme, fans issued another complaint as they slammed the celebrity line-up. One declared: "Not a clue who any of these 'Celebs' are #celebritymasterchef." Another viewer said: "Nope, don't know any of these people, the only two celebrities I know are Gregg and John."

Unable to continue watching, a third fan added: "First time EVER I’ve decided not to bother watching @MasterChefUK. Cannot abide some of the so-called 'celebs'. Bring back proper normal contestants who don’t have egos."
