EastEnders has delivered heart-stopping moments after baby Charli faced life-threatening peril when Harvey Monroe (played by Ross Boatman) made a grave error.

The storyline thickens around Harvey as viewers saw him come to terms with the fact that his son Aaron's (Charlie Wernham) victim in a racially motivated attack is none other than the husband of Maya Hossain (Bharti Patel).

Finding himself entwined in their troubles, devoted cab driver Harvey has been assisting Maya financially, especially since her home was at risk of being taken away.

In the latest visit to Walford (August 20), which fans can catch up on via BBC iPlayer, an overburdened Harvey goes above and beyond to provide for Jean Slater (Gillian Wright), his partner, and to offer support to Maya.

Meanwhile, tensions bubble up with Jean as she grows increasingly exasperated by Harvey's relentless work schedule, foreshadowing relationship strains, reports the Daily Star.

Questions arise when Jean wonders why Harvey didn't return home the previous night.

In response, he explains his lucrative fare running kept him busy, although he aims to win back Jean's favor and volunteers to pick up Stacey's (Lacey Turner) baby Charli from nursery.

Tragically, this results in danger as he accidentally falls asleep in the overheated car, with Charli trapped in the backseat.

Thankfully, in the nick of time, Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) becomes their savior, finding them and rushing them to hospital leaving Harvey anguished over his mistake.

The tension only subsides at the hospital when Lily (Lillia Turner) reassures that Charli is safe, albeit alarmingly close, having been "10 minutes from death."

Harvey's offer to drive everyone home is firmly rejected by Jack, who makes it clear that Harvey is not to ferry his granddaughter around anymore.

Meanwhile, signs of a rift between Harvey and Jean are causing a stir among EastEnders fans, with some speculating the beloved pair could be heading for a split.

On X, one viewer voiced their concern: "Now Harvey is continuing to lie to Jean. Everybody just living and lying all around the square. #EastEnders."

Another fan was on tenterhooks, exclaiming: "Harvey is still giving money to Maya. Wait until Jean finds out. #EastEnders."

One more added their two cents: "Jean will [hit] the roof, Harvey is going to make himself ill or get into [debt] himself. #EastEnders @bbceastenders."

Yet another viewer is eager for resolution, pressing: "Also, let's wrap this Harvey storyline up asap #EastEnders."

EastEnders airs Monday - Thursday on BBC One and iPlayer.
