Paul Sinha has spoken out about the time he burst into tears during a car ride with his husband when he was confronted with a walk down memory lane.

The Chase star appeared on James O'Brien's Full Disclosure podcast when he revealed he was overcome with emotions when his husband Oliver Levy drove the car past the block of flats he moved to in Wimbledon in the 1970s.

Paul, 54, said: "We moved to Wimbledon in 73 or 74. We lived in a block of flats very close to the tennis.

"Oddly enough a couple of years ago I found myself on that road accidentally. My husband Oliver was driving us to a quiz and I looked up and saw the block of flats.

"The first thing to say is your perception is so different because when you're a kid everything is massive. It looked tiny in comparison now."

The quiz whizz continued: "I just burst into tears. It was one of those things that suddenly all the memories came flooding back. You don't expect to be presented with memories of your childhood all of a sudden, without any warning just like that.

"I just burst into tears in the passenger seat, it's weird. I was overwhelmed by a flood of memories that hadn't been poked at."

Paul joined The Chase in 2011 after many years as a stand-up comedian. He was diagnosed with Parkinson's in May 2019, just over six months before he married husband Oliver.

In his autobiography titled Once Sinha Lifetime, released earlier this year, Paul told how he made the shock discovery he had Parkinson's via a Google search.

He said he was travelling in a taxi to a hotel when he made the hearbreaking discovery. He immediately broke the news to his then-fiancé.

Paul wrote in the book: "In the taxi to the hotel, I impulsively decided to do something that I should have done many months ago.

"I switched my phone on and I googled 'parkinsons + frozen shoulder'. When I saw the results the penny finally dropped. I turned to my fiancé. 'I've got Parkinson's."

The star, who is known as The Sinnerman on ITV's The Chase, opened up in the book about how the disease affected his health and the symptoms he was unable to hide from his family and friends.

He added in the book: "After my last gig, a lot of fans waited patiently for a selfie. I felt shattered. Broken. And, for the first time in my career, not really ready for the general public."
