Colman Domingo is joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) to voice supervillain Norman Osborn in the upcoming animated series 'Your Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man'. He gushed:"It means everything to me."
The distinguished US actor and playwright, who recently garnered an Oscar nod for his role in 'Rustin', surprised fans with an appearance at Disney's D23 fan convention, where he confirmed his new role alongside Hudson Thames, the voice of Spider-Man.
At a Marvel Animations preview event, Domingo shared his thoughts on his character: "He (Osborn) is the ultimate super villain and also I'm following in the footsteps of someone like Willem Dafoe," paying homage to the legendary actor who famously played Osborn before him.
Domingo humorously commented on his attraction to villainous characters: "I don't know why I've been drawn to the villains, I don't know what that says about me."
He mused over the essence of such roles, saying: "I'm a good human being but I do believe that everyone has the power to turn in some way shape or form, if you don't get enough hugs, enough love, a lot of support, you go to the dark side all the villains I've been strangely attracted to," reports the Manchester Evening News.

He concluded with enthusiasm: "To become a part of Marvel universe as Norman Osborn means everything to me."
Guests at the event were treated to an exclusive preview of the new TV series, showcasing Peter Parker's iconic transformation into Spider-Man following the pivotal spider bite.
Meanwhile, Domingo's voice as Osborn was heard offering sage advice to Spider-Man on tackling bank robbers.

Jeff Trammell, who is not only a self-confessed Spider-Man "superfan" but also the lead writer for the show, shared his deep-seated passion for the character: "We all love Spider-Man, we all love Peter Parker and the world that he lives in.
And for us, the big thing about the show is we get the opportunity to really dig into who Peter is and how that affects who Spider-Man becomes."
"The other thing is we get to pay homage to everything that has come before us."
Trammell went on to disclose that the series will introduce novel interpretations of beloved characters such as Lonnie Lincoln and Dr Curtis Connors, while also welcoming new characters like Nico Minoru and Amadeus Cho, better known as Brawn, into the fold.
Your Friendly Neighbourhood Spider Man will release on Disney+ later this year
