Chicago Med is adding two major names to the main cast as two new doctors on the scene in season 10.
The newcomers are joining in the wake of a shocking exit from the NBC drama earlier this year.
Dominic Rains has portrayed trauma surgeon Dr Crockett Marcel since season five, but sadly won’t be returning when the show is back this September.
Dr Marcel was rocked by a tragedy last season when he discovered a young former patient of his had died and the boy’s dad had taken his own life.
He then confided in Maggie (Marlyne Barrett), tearfully revealing that he had also lost a child.
After confessing he never took the time to properly grieve the death of his daughter, it seems he’s finally getting some time off to do just that. Time will tell if actor Dominic will be back for guest or recurring appearances in the future.
Thankfully, there’s some good news heading into the next season as both Sarah Ramos and Darren Barnet have been added as series regulars for Chicago Med season 10, Deadline has confirmed.
They’ll be portraying new doctors at Gaffney Chicago Medical Center Dr Caitlin Lenox and Dr John Frost.
Sarah is best known for the family drama Parenthood and has more recently made appearances as Jessica in seasons two and three of The Bear.
She playfully announced her casting by posting “chicago med” to her Instagram Stories in the style of Charli XCX’s iconic summer album Brat.
Meanwhile, Darren will be familiar to fans as Paxton Hall-Yoshida in the hit Netflix series Never Have I Ever.
He has also appeared in the popular films Anyone But You, Gran Torismo and Road House.
The actor joined his new co-star in celebrating the casting announcement on Instagram.
“Back to work!” he exclaimed alongside a screengrab of the Deadline report.
“Beyond thrilled to join @nbcchicagomed as Dr. John Frost. Also very excited to wear scrubs to work everyday. They are quite comfy.
“Let’s do this Chi-Town. Send recommendations. Please and thanks.”
Chicago Med season 10 premieres Wednesday, September 25 on NBC.
