Anne Nolan gives health update on Lorraine

Anne Nolan opened up about her courageous fight against cancer when she joined host Christine Lampard on ITV's Lorraine for an emotional health update.

The singer delved into her personal struggles on Tuesday's show, as Christine enquired about Anne's wellbeing following her diagnosis with stage three breast cancer.

Anne looked visibly emotional as she commented: "I am so lucky, I had my first cancer in 2000, I had my chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and an operation."

She then recounted how after six months of intensive chemo, radiotherapy and an operation, the disease reemerged two decades later in the other breast.

The Irish star revealed that this resulted in her having further rounds of chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and surgery, reports the Mirror.

Anne went on to share some hopeful news: "I'm happy to say that, I'm clear. I've got another year before I'm actually discharged. But I'm clear of cancer at the moment thank goodness. I count myself really, really lucky."

When Christine expressed relief at Anne's positive health news, the conversation turned to the broader impact of the illness within the Nolan family.

With a candid acknowledgement of the pain they've endured, Anne remarked: "It has hit us hard, but then there are eight children in our family and three of us have had cancer. Whereas sometimes you see families with three children and they've all had cancer."

Continuing with her positive outlook, Anne observed: "If you look at it like that, we're kind of lucky in a way as well that only three of us have had it."

Reflecting on her sister Bernie's death, Anne labeled it "terribly sad", while also touching upon the current ill health of her sister Linda.

Anne heaped praise saying: "Although she's fantastic, she's so upbeat about it all. She has moments. But she still goes out, she does things with the family and gets out there. She doesn't let it get her down too much, she's amazing."

Sadly, Linda shared the heartbreaking news last year that her battle with breast cancer, which began in 2006, had taken a turn as it spread to her brain, leading to her stepping away from an astonishing 50-year career.

During an uplifting chat with Good Morning Britain at the end of 2023, the courageous singer revealed her tumours had diminished after receiving the latest treatment courses.

At the time, she confidently reflected: "At the moment, I feel good. I've got a little bit of pain but I was walking about yesterday; we went to the beautiful garden centre and I was having a walk around to keep moving."

Lorraine continues weekdays on ITV from 9am
