Good Morning Britain viewers got personal after raging at the weather report this morning, presented by Alex Beresford, with many left disappointed as he warned of thunderstorms ahead during the heatwave.

"Hey Beresford there is weather outside of London, it's not going to be 30° where I live #gmb," one Twitter user exclaimed. For instance, the weather in Blackpool this morning has barely scraped 18C, while in York, torrential rain has been falling alongside temperatures of 15C.

The disgruntled locals may not have been happy with Alex's blue sky thinking as he predicted double the temperatures they were experiencing, while referring to the balmy south-east. Viewers took to Twitter to vent their frustrations as they failed to identify with the report.

One exclaimed: "@GMB @AlexBeresford Alex Beresford has the personality of a peanut replace him with Des Coleman who does the weather on itv central." (sic) Another viewer sarcastically swiped: "@GMB @alexberesfordTV Global warming eh?"

However, while some are stressed about the number on the thermometer plunging, those in the UK's warmest spots are growing tired of the sweltering heat. A third chimed in: "This weather is so terrible! We need digital ID to stop climate change immediately!"

Experts recently addressed global warming in the West after a huge heatwave blanketed the Olympic Games in Paris last week.

Leading scientists insisted that the sweltering temperatures would have been "virtually impossible" without "man-made climate change".

Conditions saw even the world's fittest athletes struggling and resorting to using ice packs to control their body temperatures.

Imperial College London climate scientist Friederike Otto stated: "If the atmosphere wasn’t overloaded with emissions from burning fossil fuel, Paris would have been about 3°C cooler and much safer for sport."

Meanwhile, back on GMB, Alex Beresford also discussed the risks of wearing flip-flops for driving as a way to ward off the heat.

He could be seen behind the wheel of a makeshift vehicle, pedalling away while wearing the controversial footwear to demonstrate.

The issue launched a fiery debate in the studio, with the idea being raised that wearing unsuitable footwear could invalidate insurance policies if a car accident was incurred as a result.

Former X Factor star Chico gave his say as well, defending people's needs to wear cool shoes in hot climates, but stopping short of suggesting they were safe for driving.
