Emmerdale: Police call Caleb about fire at his work
Emmerdale fans are not too happy with one of its latest storylines.
Ella Forster, played by Paula Lane, made her debut earlier this year - but it was clear she was hiding a huge secret. And in typical soap fashion, her major bombshell was eventually revealed.
When Ella was 11-years-old, she killed her best friend and was sent to prison for the crime. After getting released Ella, who was previously known as Ruth - has since spent the rest of her life, moving around the country.
Arriving at the Dales in January, Ella hoped she could finally settle down especially as she struck up a romance with GP Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson).
However, when he found out about her being a child killer, Liam called it quits, unable to deal with it, following the murder of his own daughter Leanna (Mimi Slinger).
As a result, Ella fled the village back in June, but she made her dramatic comeback recently after getting into a car accident.
After some persuasion from pal Mandy Dingle (Lisa Riley) Ella decided to head back to the village - much to the horror of Liam. And in another shock twist, Ella confessed to Mandy that she is pregnant with Liam’s child.
But during Tuesday’s episode (July 30) Ella was dealt a heartbreaking blow when it was revealed she wasn’t actually pregnant. In emotional scenes, Ella was told she had an anembryonic pregnancy, also known as blighted ovum or a silent miscarriage.
However, following Ella’s bombshell, fans couldn’t help but notice a similar storyline that is ongoing in rival soap Corrie and EastEnders.

Viewers will recall Toyah (Georgia Taylor) thought she was pregnant in ITV’s Coronation Street - only to find out it was tragically cancer. And over in Walford, amid her attempt to get pregnant, Sonia Fowler (Natalie Cassidy) was recently told she had a blighted ovum.
On social media, fans shared their complaints over the similar storylines. On X, one person said: “Can these soap writers not come up with any original ideas?
“First Sonia in #Eastenders has a blighted ovum. Now Ella in #Emmerdale has had a blighted ovum,” they added. A second wrote: “Ella like Toyah on #corrie she thought she was prego as well.”
While over on a Reddit thread, a third penned: “Character is pregnant but when they go to hospital there is no baby, seems a familiar storyline for some reason Toyah Corrie.”
