Wong Chun-ting of Hong Kong put up a good fight in his round-of-32 men's table tennis singles match at the Paris Olympics, but he was no match for second-seeded Fan Zhendong of China. Fan was off to a fast start, racing to a 2-0 lead by taking the first two games 11-5, 11-5. Wong came to life in the third game. He jumped out to leads of 4-0 and 5-1 before holding on for an 11-9 victory. But Fan simply proved too strong for his SAR opponent. He went on to capture the next two games 11-6, 11-3 to complete a 4-1 win in 36 minutes.
