BBC Breakfast shake-up as regular presenter missing and replaced by co-star

BBC Breakfast underwent another presenter shakeup on Wednesday morning (July 31) as Sally Nugent was nowhere to be seen.

The hit morning programme, which is usually presented by Sally and Jon Kay from Mondays straight through to Wednesdays, saw reporter Nina Warhurst take the reins. Sitting alongside Jon on the famous red sofa, the pair delivered the latest news headlines in the UK and across the globe.

Although Sally appeared on screens the day before, BBC Breakfast failed to mention why she was missing in action on Wednesday. However, despite the change- some viewers felt Nina was doing a great job- particularly around sensitive matters.

Heading over to X, one viewer wrote: "Nina delivers tragic news with a steady combination of compassion and professionalism. Her delivery is impeccable."

On Tuesday, fans witnessed another presenter reshuffle. This time it was Jon who was missing from the show.

The regular host was replaced by Ben Thompson, who often hosts the programme on weekends. Due to the 2024 Olympics, BBC Breakfast has gone through several changes as the sporting event takes precedence on BBC One.

On Wednesday, the popular news programme aired on BBC Two. It was also only on until 9am instead of 9:30am.

Notifying viewers on social media site X, presenter Jon penned: "We’re on BBC Two this morning because of Olympics coverage. We’ve got the latest from Southport and all the morning’s other news, sport, business and weather."

But viewers also noticed that news from their local area was dropped from the show.

During the popular programme, the presenters usually take a step back and allow local news correspondents to deliver an update to viewers in different parts of the country.

However, annoyed viewers who were waiting to see this aspect of the show were left disappointed. Heading over to X, one fan wrote: "Where is the local news and weather today?"

Another simply asked: "Local news?"
