Casualty: Michael Stevenson filming kicks Idris Elba out of Pinewood Studios

Casualty star Michael Stevenson's (who plays Iain Dean) most recent daredevil stunt on the long running BBC medical drama came at the expense of Idris Elba who was kicked out of Pinewood Studio's legendary underwater stage so they could shoot. The actor kept a video diary of the experience which he was clearly hugely excited about.

Admitting it was a "bit of a pinch me moment" pulling up on the lot, he excitedly gushed: "I mean James Bond has been in there. Tom Cruise has been in there."

"They've actually just kicked Idris Elba out for me to go in there. How cool is that!" he exclaimed. While he didn't mention what movie Idris was shooting these scenes were filmed earlier this year so it is most likely he was utilising the facilities to film From The Below.

The movie is a survival thriller film, which he is co-directing with Martin Owen. It follows three astronauts trapped in their capsule as it sinks in the ocean and it was shooting in Pinewood from November last year until February.

Michael took fans through the process of filming the dramatic scenes, which aired in June. It saw Michael's character dive into a lake to save a man trapped in a car.

Michael admitted to feeling some nerves ahead of the shoot. "I was driving down today, I started to feel a little bit nervous. I don't really know what to expect today," he confessed revealing he had to do some underwater training before he could shoot the stunt.

At one point he also had to use eye drops as his eyes were becoming bloodshot from the chlorine in the water. Despite this he clearly had a ball shooting the scenes.

His paramedic character is often at the thick of the action and Michael recently exclusively told Express.co.uk the huge set pieces are his favourite part of the show. Despite his character always being in the thick of it, he thinks he is "lucky."

"The stunts, for me, that's my favourite part of the job. I'm very lucky that the show allows me to do them.

"And although Iain gets himself into situations and maybe there are times where we need to let somebody else jump into the water, for me as an actor, it's the most, biggest privilege that the show gives me," he enthused.

He also doesn't think his daredevil feats will end anytime soon as Iain just can't help himself.

"His instinct is to go and be the hero or do the reckless thing. That works out well usually, but it's in his DNA. At his very core he is somebody that will risk his life in order to save a life," he admitted.
