Fans of The Boys are finally realising where they've seen The Deep before - just in time for the Amazon Prime series' grand finale.
The character of Kevin Moskowitz, also known by his Seven persona The Deep, is portrayed by Chace Crawford on the show. Before he donned the gills and green suit, he had a long-running role on another hit TV show.
Viewers have just made the connection that Chace is also the man behind Nate Archibald in Gossip Girl. Chace's portrayal of these two vastly different characters has left viewers astounded, with many taking to social media to express their surprise.
Some fans have highlighted the stark contrast between The Deep and Nate Archibald, finding it "weird" to see Chace in such diverse roles. "I'm only just now realising that Chace Crawford was in Gossip Girl and I can't deal with it because he's The Deep in The Boys," one fan posted on X.
Another viewer commented: "Was so weird watching Gossip Girl again because Chace Crawford plays Nate there and also The Deep in The Boys," while a third said: "Still can't believe Chace Crawford went from the absolute sweetheart he was in Gossip Girl to whoever he is in The Boys."
Chace played Nate in Gossip Girl from 2007 until 2012 and was a central character in the popular series. He joined the cast of The Boys in 2019 and has also appeared in spin-offs, The Boys Presents: Diabolical and Gen V, reports the Mirror.
The fourth season of The Boys premiered on 13 June and was an instant hit with fans. However, one particular scene in the Amazon Prime satirical superhero series really grabbed viewers' attention.
During the fourth series, The Deep has an intimate encounter with octopus Ambrosius, voiced by Academy Award winner Tilda Swinton, at an annual soiree famed for its wild escapades. The actor, Chace, candidly shared his trepidation over filming the provocative scene, confessing it nearly triggered a "panic attack".
Chace opened up on his initial reaction upon reading the script to Rolling Stone, saying: "Oh god, how's this going to work?". He then explained how he was in complete denial about engaging in such scenes with the marine animal right until the last moment.
Casting off all inhibitions, Chace revealed: "And then it got 24 hours out from the first day I had to shoot it and I almost had a panic attack," also mentioning he would have reconsidered making an appearance in the series if he'd known about such graphic scenes in advance.
