Lorraine admits she's 'worried' about Rob Rinder's book

Lorraine Kelly has admitted feeling a "bit worried" about Rob Rinder's latest literary offering, as the atmosphere turned decidedly frosty in the ITV studio.

During a live interview on Thursday (July 18), Lorraine engaged with the television judge about his upcoming book The Suspect, which is the follow-up to his debut novel The Trial. The plot, revolving around the on-air murder of a TV presenter, prompted a spine-tingling exchange between the two.

Rob Rinder brought up the unnerving premise, remarking: "You know how this starts, don't you Lorraine? It starts with the death of a well-known daytime TV presenter live on telly."

Interrupting, Lorraine responded with visible concern: "Yes I do. Thanks for that, I was a bit sort of worried about that one, but it's really good. You're working on the third one which is fantastic."

The blurb for The Suspect sets the scene: "When the UK's favourite breakfast TV presenter dies live on air in front of millions of viewers, the nation is left devastated. More devastated still when it becomes clear that her death was not an accident," reports the Mirror.

It continues: "The evidence points to one culprit: celebrity chef Sebastian Brooks. But junior barrister Adam Green is about to discover that the case is not as open-and-shut as it first seemed.

"And despite her seemingly innocent image, the deceased was not lacking adversaries in the glamorous world of television... Can Adam unravel the mystery?"

Rob Brydon has candidly shared his thoughts on the cutthroat nature of the television industry, comparing it to his experiences with criminals. Speaking to inews, he said: "I've seen much more sociopathy working in TV than I did visiting my clients in HMP Belmarsh. Most of the criminals I've met end up inside because of poor choices, or because they've had no choices. But people in TV? Well..."

During an appearance on Lorraine, Rob shifted gears to discuss the ongoing drama surrounding BBC's Strictly Come Dancing, a show he knows well as a former contestant. He reflected positively on his own stint but acknowledged that female stars face harsher scrutiny over their looks.

In a touching moment on his show with Rylan Clark, where the duo explored Italy, Rob became emotional as he opened up about his past love life. He confessed: "I was once so in love when I was in my early twenties, but it wasn't reciprocated. And it never has been."

The comedian also touched upon his personal life, revealing his split from husband Seth Cumming. The couple, who were married for four years in a ceremony conducted by Benedict Cumberbatch and together for 11 years, parted ways in 2018.
