GMB: Kwasi Kwarteng reflects on King's Speech moments

Fans of Good Morning Britain bashed the ITV show today (July 18) as Kwasi Kwarteng made an appearance to talk about the country's finances and the current state of politics. The former Chancellor of the Exchequer joined presenters Richard Madeley and Charlotte Hawkins as a guest on the show.

The former MP seems to have turned his attentions to being a political commentator after standing down from parliament earlier this year. Back in February, the MP for Spelthorne in Surrey said on X (formerly Twitter) that it had been an "honour to serve the residents of Spelthorne since 2010."
But as he spoke about finances on GMB this morning, fans at home were less than impressed as they branded his segment a "car crash" which was "unwatchable". Posting to X, one user complained: "Kwasi Kwarteng is having a car crash on #gmb with his new gig as a political commentator. He’s sweating like a pig and constantly talking over others on the panel".
Another bashed the ITV show, saying it was a "disgraceful" choice having him on the show, writing: "#GMB why have you got Kwasi on? He has cost the public so much pain and financial pain through his ridiculous mini budget - raising people's mortgages to an astronomical rate - disgraceful."

"The guy who cost the UK billions. Nobody gives a sh*t what he thinks. Utterly unwatchable. Advertisers take note. #GMB".
And someone else added: "How Good Morning Britain have the nerve to have that prick as one of their commentators after crashing the economy!@ITV Gone down in my estimation #GMB".
Mr Kwarteng lasted just 38 days in the role of Chancellor of the Exchequer under Liz Truss' Conservative government, but remained an official representative until May 30, 2024.

He left in 2022 after a mini-budget he produced resulted in financial turbulence and a revolt from his fellow Tory MPs.
The mini-budget of September 2022 included £45bn of tax cuts and was followed by market turmoil.
Mr Kwarteng's brief tenure as chancellor made him the second-shortest serving chancellor behind Iain Macleod, who died a month after taking office in 1970.
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV and ITVX
