Bradley Walsh warns player after running out of time

The Chase fans couldn't hide their fury as one player made an "unforgivable" move during the latest instalment of the ITV show.

The quizzing programme returned on Wednesday (July 17) with a repeat episode. Bradley Walsh welcomed Laura, Jill, Jermaine and Dan, who hoped to win some cash after taking on Shaun Wallace.

First to take on the chaser was Laura, who managed to answer four questions correctly in the cashbuilder. She decided to stick with the money she had already won, however, narrowly missed out on the final after getting the last question wrong.

Hoping to become the first person into the final chase was Jill, who played it safe by taking Shaun's low offer of £1,000. After Jill made it through to the final, it was Jermaine's turn to play.

During Jermaine's cash builder round, fans began complaining as they noticed he was taking his time in answering questions.

Sharing their frustrations on social media, one wrote: "Jermaine should just say Pass to save time..." Another declared: "Bloody hell jermaine you could fit buses in those gaps!"

"Take your time mate," a third sarcastically quipped. Viewers only grew more frustrated as the episode went on after Jermaine also opted for the lower offer instead of the £3,000 he won in the cashbuilder.

During the head-to-head with Shaun, Jermaine was given the question: "The 60s sitcom 'The Likely Lads' was set around which city?" Jermaine struggled with which answer to choose out of Manchester, Newcastle upon Tyne and Sheffield, so much so that he ran out of time completely.

Viewers were infuriated by the moment as they branded it "unforgivable". One simply wrote: "Low offer AND out of time?" A second weighed in: "Out of time??? Unforgivable."

"You need to do one thing. Press within five effing seconds. That’s all," fumed another fan. Someone else demanded: " Press the friggin button."

Bradley was forced to issue a warning to the contestant, saying: "Jermaine, here's the thing. Once he presses the button, you have five seconds in which to answer. Don't let it happen again."

Despite missing out on that question, Jermaine made it through to the final chase, bringing the team's total to £2,000. The final player to take on Shaun was cab driver Dan, who answered six questions correctly in his cashbuilder.

He stuck with the £6,000 and beat Shaun in the head-to-head, meaning the team were playing for a total of £8,000. However, the trio struggled with their questions and only managed to answer 13 correctly. This was no match for the Dark Destroyer, who matched their score with 35 seconds remaining.
