BBC Breakfast reporter suffers technical difficulty

BBC Breakfast was forced to pause the show after the presenter suffered a technical blunder live on air.

During Tuesday’s episode of the BBC hit show, presenter Jon Kay and co-star Nina Warhurst were joined by sports presenter Hugh Ferris as they spoke about the Lioness's upcoming football match for the Euro 2025 qualifiers.

The Women’s England team is set to take on Sweden in Gothenburg today for the final qualifier. It was revealed that correspondent Kate Cornel was reporting live from Gothenburg ahead of the game.

Nina started by saying: “After the disappointment from the boys, let's talk about the Lioness bringing it home.”

Sports presenter Hugh Ferris replied: “Let's say it has been a very complicated qualification process that Uefa has put in place. Northern Island, Scotland, and Wales can all secure a play-off place.”

Looking at the camera, he continued: “But it’s to the Lioness we go to Gothenburg where a crucial match will take place.

"There is our correspondent Kate who is there ahead of the game. So Just a point needed for England to secure that place in the final.”

But as the camera cut over to Kate, it appeared as though the show suffered some awkward technical difficulties as no one could hear Kate, and the screen was frozen.

The show was forced to pause for a moment and cut back to the studio following the mishap.

“Well we can all agree that Kate was in Gothenburg but not moving," Hugh laughed.

Forced to step in, he added: “Just to let it out in case we can’t get Kate back. A point is enough but of course, a win is what the Lioness would want to make sure that they’re in the finals and are the defending champions.”

BBC Breakfast airs daily at 6am on BBC One.
