Jeremy Clarkson announces Clarkson's Farm series four

Jeremy Clarkson  has admitted he is facing a "dilemma" on Clarkson's Farm , as the Top Gear icon also feared it would be a "rough year" for the Cotswolds business.

This comes as he claims that it would be nearly impossible for farmers to continue producing enough food if the government continues towards Net Zero targets.

In his latest column, he penned: "It’s very important that we have the ability to feed ourselves, but we simply cannot do that when the main mission is to achieve Net Zero."

He then added he was facing a dilemma on his farm, as cost-cutting means not using the greenest of methods.

Clarkson added: ""This old-fashioned system means the soil is turned over, so the weeds are buried and, owing to a lack of sunshine, die," as he concluded his dilemma, adding farming is either "kind to the sky or kind to the soil".

The third season of the hugely popular Amazon Prime series showed the highs and lows the team at Diddly Squat face as they work the land, with the help of farm manager Kaleb Cooper, land agent Charlie Ireland, ‘head of security’ Gerald Cooper and his partner Lisa Hogan.

It showed them face the death of beloved animals and a battle with the council over their farm shop. But now, ahead of series four, the overall running of the farm is under threat.

It comes as this summer’s bleak weather forecast looks set to affect their ability to produce profitable crops. May faced an extra wet month, with rainfall most days meaning that Jeremy's crops were drowned.

The 64-year-old farmer posted an aerial photo taken of three fields that, although green, were patchy throughout to his Instagram account.

He captioned it: "It’s going to be a rough year. All that seed sowed, drowned with the constant rain."

Fans were gutted for Jeremy and his farm. One user commented on the Instagram post, saying: "Oh no this is awful!! You make me see just how much work goes into farming, the money and work that goes into it is bonkers, take my hat off to all farmers around the world because that is a graft. Gutted for you all with this weather as well!"

Another added: "Just can’t catch a break!" A third wrote: " It is heartbreaking for you and all of us who need the farming community."

Someone else noted: "That 1 field is really struggling then add in the rabbit and deer damage. Hope it picks up a bit."

Based on previous release dates, the next series should be out in spring 2025. Jeremy shared an image which showed ‘Clarkson’s Farm Four’ on screen as fans worked out when it will arrive.

They seemed to think it would be in about nine months time, with Lisa Hogan making a demand of her own. She demanded: “Can all 8 chapters drop at once this time?!”.

Clarkson's Farm is available to stream on Amazon Prime Video now.
