BBC Breakfast's Naga Munchetty called 'rude' as she spits out food in 'disgusting' segment

BBC Breakfast viewers have branded Naga Munchetty "rude" after she spat out food during a "disgusting" segment where she and co-host Charlie Stayt tried muffins with insects baked inside them.

The pair were joined in the studio by Dr Ralph Munders from the University of Surrey who is leading a study that says the protein from eating insects could be good for you. He brought in muffins with him for the presenters to try, as viewers saw them begin to tuck into both a regular muffin and a bug-filled muffin.

Naga, 49, took a bite of the bug-infested muffin, but - clearly not a fan - she spat it out into a tissue and had to drink some water from a mug to get rid of the taste from her mouth.

Charlie, 61, turned to her and asked: "Which did you think?" as she refused to say anything, before Charlie, who was previously replaced after being absent, added: "Not speaking right now." Charlie appeared to enjoy the insect muffin, as Naga then said: "They're both pretty bad if I'm honest."

"I don't think so, I quite liked the first one," her co-host expressed, as Dr Ralph exclaimed: "Well you quite liked the insect one," before revealing which one was which.

Viewers at home rushed to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share their opinions on the segment.

One frustrated BBC viewer said: "She was plain rude. Clearly someone in her ear told her off."

Another social media user expressed: "naga spat it out #BBCBreakfast."

Somebody else penned: "I see Nagas face after eating those insect muffins lol #BBCBreakfast." (sic)

Yet another person said: "Both of those muffins on #bbcbreakfast look rank and Naga just confirmed they're bad. It's a no from me."

A fifth agreed: "By the look of @TVNaga01 face, those muffins taste as bad as we'd predicted lol #BBCBreakfast."

While a sixth added: "Nah ill pass, that muffin looks hard #BBCBreakfast." (sic)
