APTIS: Couple reveal they've only seen Murcia on Channel 4 show

Jasmine Harman struggled to fight back tears on Monday's episode of . The property expert was on hand to offer her advice to buyers Debra from London, and Greg from Memphis in the USA.

Together they jetted off to the countryside of Murcia in Spain, with the aim of finding a holiday home in the sun - But the buyers made an unusual admission as they said they had never visited in person.

With a budget of £150,000 and wiggle room of £25,000, the want-to-be homeowners hoped for a property big enough for them and their four-legged friend, pet dog Trinity. They had hopes of their little slice of paradise becoming their full-time home at some time in the future.

Debra and Greg told Jasmine that they would love to find a property with a bit of outside space for their dog, with a minimum of two bedrooms. They said that one-and-a-half baths was "absolutely necessary" and somewhere that was big enough for Greg, who appeared quite tall.

When asked why they chose Murcia, Debra and Greg delivered an unusual answer, much to the surprise of Jasmine. They admitted that they had never visited the area before and had only ever been to Spain briefly.

Jasmine said: "So, hang on... You're looking to buy somewhere in an area, and in fact a country, that you don't really know too well?" Debra replied: "Well we don't physically know it, but we kind of know feel like we know it. Because we watch A Place in the Sun all the time."

The Channel 4 TV presenter couldn't believe what she was hearing as she said: "So you've basically seen it on the show? How does it live up now you're here and seeing it in real life?" The buyers both agreed that the area was much better than expected.

The first home that Jasmine showed the couple was a two-bedroomed home in Los Puertos with a very unique feature - A home recording studio. It was on the market for just under £155,000. The home was built into a hill and had a beautiful outdoor terrace and a pool.

The second offering was a property in Perin, with much more space than the first. It had four bedrooms, a pool and plenty of outdoor space, with it being on the market for £153,500.

While the couple were looking around, Jasmine admitted that she felt "emotional" while speaking to the camera. She ran her hands through her hair as she said: "I mean even I'm getting emotional. I feel like this one is definitely going to be a strong contender."

Meeting back up with the buyers, Jasmine said: "Hello again. I've composed myself a bit more now. So I'm guessing this one is a contender?" They agreed as they said: "Absolutely... when you know you know."

While they all felt that property number two would be hard to beat, the buyers said that closer neighbours could be an improvement. The third property shown had an acre of land with an orchard, driveway and pool. It had three bedrooms and plenty of living space and was on the market for £150,500.

Despite being excellent value for money, Jasmine said: "While I had high hopes for this one, I don't think they're falling in love with it." The couple later confirmed Jasmine's suspicions as they said they didn't feel the love for the property in their hearts.

Property number four was a villa in las Palas, with two bedrooms and three bathrooms. However, it was way over budget at £185,000 but the developer was willing to offer a discount to bring the price down to £175,000.

The fifth and final property was on sale for £146,000 with four bedrooms, two bathrooms and plenty of living space. It also had a seperate two-bedroom annexe.

Eventually it was time to make a decision. Debra and Greg seemed to be spoilt for choice as they said that Jamsine had done a "brilliant job". It was a no-brainer for the couple as they declared that they wanted to buy property number two.

They offered £150,000. Unfortunately it was rejected and a counter offer of just under £151,000 was on the table instead. Debra and Greg decided to accept the deal.

A Place in the Sun airs on Channel 4 on weekdays at 3pm
