In celebration of Need for Speed's 30th anniversary, BMW has turned the household gaming title's Most Wanted BMW MT3 GTR into a real-life vehicle.

"Most gamers will remember Need for Speed™: Most Wanted from 2005," BMW wrote in a blog post. "One of the reasons is a very special BMW M model driven in the game by the main antagonist, Clarence Callahan, aka ‘Razor’: a BMW M3 GTR from 2001. Its striking silver-blue design, brute sound, enormous power and role in the game’s plot have left a lasting impression on many gamers."

Bringing the racing icon to life, BMW has realized the virtual car with a game-inspired version of the original BMW M3 GTR (2001), a racing car based on the BMW M3 E46. Made by BMW M Motorsport for the American Le Mans Series, the BMW M3 GTR won seven out of 10 races, with Jörg Müller in the driver's seat. Notably, the car, which weighs 1,100 kg, boasts a P60B40 V8 engine with a max output of roughly 450 horsepower and a top speed of approximately 260 km/hour.

"The M3 GTR is one of the most recognizable and beloved cars in Need for Speed history," said John Stanley, senior creative director for Need for Speed Unbound.

The BMW M3 GTR is now on display at BMW Welt München through January of next year. Take a look at the vehicle in the gallery above.
