The Diplomat fans feel 'ripped off' by Netflix after season two trailer drops

The Diplomat season two official trailer

Political thriller series The Diplomat is returning to Netflix for its highly-anticipated second season this month, with the Halloween release date right around the corner. The first series centered on Kate Wyler (played by Keri Russell), the new United States ambassador to the United Kingdom, as she helped to defuse an international crisis.

Netflix released the trailer for the second instalment on Tuesday and the nearly two minute promo clip promises even more drama for Kate. The opening moments of it reveal that Keri's husband Hal Wyler (Rufus Hewell) is still alive and survived the car bomb explosion at the end of season one, but it looks like it's touch and go as he remains in hospital.

As well as her personal issues, Kate is also having to deal with an informant in her team as she says: "If members of my government are involved, it could be anyone. The call is coming from inside the house and three Americans just got blown up inside the house."

As the trailer dropped, fans were left unhappy after realising season two only consists of six episodes, less than the eight episodes of season one.

Viewers flocked to Reddit as one person expressed: "I feel like they made it 6 episodes so they could rush it out because it was unexpectedly popular."

Another fan quipped: "TV shows used to be 22 episodes. We're still getting ripped off." Somebody else penned: "Cool. Although a 6 episode season is bulls**t, it should be 10."

Yet another remarked: "This is one of the only good shows they have, 6 episodes is completely BS, I'm not even asking for 10, just keep it at like 8 like the 1st season."

A fifth added: "I mean, I would prefer 16 episodes but Netflix doesn't like to do reasonable length seasons."
