The Paralympics are officially back and the games promises 11 days of enthralling action across 22 sports. Channel 4 fans have already had their say on the coverage, with most viewers moaning about the adverts during the Opening Ceremony.

Unlike the Olympic Games which were broadcasted by the BBC, Channel 4 fans didn't expect the dazzling spectacle to cut away to advertisements.

One fan jumped onto X, formally known as Twitter, to react to the opening ceremony being interupted: "I know Channel 4 has ads but I didn’t expect them to use them *during* the opening ceremony."

A second also said: "Shame the ads couldn't wait til after the opening ceremony! Greedy & completely spoils the experience."

function loadOvpScript(){let el=document.createElement('script');el.setAttribute('src','https://live.primis.tech/live/liveView.php?s=114945&playerApiId=v114945');document.getElementById('ovp-primis').appendChild(el)} window.top.addEventListener('primisPlayerInit',e=>{try{if(e.detail&&e.detail.playerApiId==="v114945"){if(window.document.getElementsByClassName('jwplayer')[0]){e.detail.float('disable')}}}catch(e){}});window.addEventListener('DOMContentLoaded',()=>{setTimeout(()=>{if(typeof flagTcfLoaded!=='undefined'&&flagTcfLoaded===!0){loadOvpScript() ExpressApp.Log('[Load] OVP flagTcfLoaded',new Date())}else{document.addEventListener("tcfLoaded",()=>{loadOvpScript() ExpressApp.Log('[Load] OVP tcfLoaded',new Date())})}},1500)})

A third person also chimed in: "There were no ads during the last opening ceremony, obviously not on bbc, but not on eurosprt either. Why are #Paralympiques2024 treated differently?"

A fourth also penned: "I hope we haven’t missed an important plot point during that all-important ad break… #Paralympics #OpeningCeremony."

Fans who also watched the Olympics last month had their say on how different the opening ceremony was, with some fans hoping that the Paralympics Opening Ceremony would be "better."

One fan wrote: "#Paralympics Opening Ceremony, let's hope it's better than the Olympic one."

A second also said: "Only minutes in, and the live #Paralympics2024 Opening Ceremony looks much better, more creative and breathtaking than the #Olympics2024 Opening Ceremony."

The opening ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics attracted criticism for its depiction of Leonardo da Vinci's famous painting "The Last Supper".

The dazzling spectacle drew a large number of complaints as viewers accused organisers of creating a 'woke' parody of the famous painting, which depicts Jesus' last meal with his disciples. The recreation of the famous biblical scene included a group of drag queens and a transgender model.

The imitation of The Last Supper during the opening ceremony unintentionally caused offence to Christians, including Tesla CEO Elon Musk.

Taking to X, he penned: "This was extremely disrespectful to Christians."

Professional boxer Ryan Garcia also voice his disapproval and wrote online: "The Olympics needs to be boycotted now. You can't disrespect religion in front of millions. This ain't right no one watch."

American commentator Clint Russell also wrote: "This is crazy. Opening your event by replacing Jesus and the disciples at the The Last Supper with men in drag. There are 2.4 billion Christians on earth and apparently the Olympics wanted to declare loudly to all of them, right out of the gate: NOT WELCOME."
