Krishnan Guru-Murthy apologised to fans after an obscenity was played during the Opening Ceremony of the Paralympic Games.

Channel 4 fans tuned in to watch the dazzling spectacle which will see over 4,000 athletes compete over the next fortnight. During the ceremony parade, a DJ played the soundtrack Memories by David Guetta and Kid Kudi.

However, during one segment there was an obscenity played which prompted Krishnan to make a quick apology to viewers.

function loadOvpScript(){let el=document.createElement('script');el.setAttribute('src','https://live.primis.tech/live/liveView.php?s=114945&playerApiId=v114945');document.getElementById('ovp-primis').appendChild(el)} window.top.addEventListener('primisPlayerInit',e=>{try{if(e.detail&&e.detail.playerApiId==="v114945"){if(window.document.getElementsByClassName('jwplayer')[0]){e.detail.float('disable')}}}catch(e){}});window.addEventListener('DOMContentLoaded',()=>{setTimeout(()=>{if(typeof flagTcfLoaded!=='undefined'&&flagTcfLoaded===!0){loadOvpScript() ExpressApp.Log('[Load] OVP flagTcfLoaded',new Date())}else{document.addEventListener("tcfLoaded",()=>{loadOvpScript() ExpressApp.Log('[Load] OVP tcfLoaded',new Date())})}},1500)})

The ceremony had not hit the watershed time of 21:00, where material which is unsuitable for children should not be broadcasted.

Many fans noticed the blunder and took to social media to voice their reaction. One person said: "#channel4 #Paralympics Thanks for the apology Channel 4. The swearword I’ve no idea what was said, but it can’t be any worse than the obscenities your channel churns out daily!"

Another also said: "Tbh I'm more offended by channel 4 coverage #channel4 than a song having the word s**t in the lyrics #paralympics." [sic]

Another fan replied: "Oh Britain, they've clearly never heard the radio in a non English speaking country have they."

One fan jumped onto X, formally known as Twitter, to react to the opening ceremony being interupted: "I know Channel 4 has ads but I didn’t expect them to use them *during* the opening ceremony."

A second also said: "Shame the ads couldn't wait til after the opening ceremony! Greedy & completely spoils the experience."
