The Repair Shop expert shares glimpse behind-the-scenes

The Repair Shop expert Richard Talman has bid an emotional farewell to his co-stars as he confirmed: "That's the end of filming for me". Alongside a behind-the-scenes video of the production team posted to Instagram, Richard confirmed production has concluded for series 10.

He wrote: "Well, that’s the end of filming series 10 for me! What a wonderful season with some fantastic people I have the pleasure to call workmates. You all know the experts, so wanted to feature the incredible production team that make the series possible."

He ended the post with: "@therepairshop Thank you for having me. It’s a wrap, as they say!"

Richard's co-stars and fans quickly responded to the post, with expert Julian Wallis writing: "Love you brother. See you next year." One fan replied: "Everyone involved in The Repair Shop is truly amazing. So much love for everyone involved in making this awesome programme."

Someone else penned: "Richard, thanks for sharing this, these folks are the unsung heroes."

"Wow! All those people," another pointed out.

One fan added: " Fantastic team, it’s great to see what everyone else looks like, keep up the fantastic making of this programme."

When Richard isn't filming for the BBC series, he is running his own jewellery business.

The expert started life in the trade in September 1995 after leaving secondary school, which is when he joined the famous Sir John Cass Faculty of Arts in Whitechapel, East London.

There he studied a City and Guilds diamond mounting course before starting his apprenticeship at a goldsmith in Hatton Garden in May 1996.

In June 2002, Richard completed his apprenticeship with the Goldsmiths’ Company and became a Freeman.

Despite loving his role on The Repair Shop, Richard admitted when he first got the call from producers to appear as an expert, he thought it was a prank.

He previously said to OK Magazine: “There was an answering message on my workshop landline saying, ‘I’m a researcher for a show called The Repair Shop and we wondered if you’d be interested in coming along to repair some jewellery on the television.’

"I went to press delete because I assumed it was a prank, but my wife Googled the phone number and it came up as a production company, so I called them back!”

The Repair Shop is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
