Escape to the Country drama as guest close to tears after house revelation

Escape to the Country: Guests left emotional by stunning home

A prospective buyer was left almost in tears on a recent episode of Escape to the Country, as she was completely taken aback by a beautiful property.

The popular daytime programme returned for another instalment on Tuesday afternoon (August 6), with host Alistair Appleton at the helm. However, he had his work cut out for him with house hunter Annie, who was accompanied by her friend Sophie.

Anne had very specific requirements for her dream country home. Annie, who was searching for a property in Pembrokeshire, but was evidently unimpressed with the first house that Alistair showed her, a sentiment echoed by her friend Sophie.

However, the second property was a different story altogether. Before even stepping inside, Annie was visibly moved by the exterior of the house, exclaiming: "I think it's absolutely ravishing, it's beautiful."

"I love it. I'm getting a bit emotional just looking at it," she added, reports the Mirror.

Despite Annie's initial positive reaction, Alistair was understandably apprehensive as they ventured inside the property. The country home featured unpainted wooden kitchen cabinets - a feature that Annie had previously expressed a dislike for when viewing the first property.

However, much to Alistair's surprise, Annie was delighted with the kitchen in this house, declaring: "It's lovely."

"It's not small, it's smaller than the large kitchen the really large kitchen in the last place and it's larger than the kitchen that I have at home which is completely adequate. It's beautiful I love it."

As she surveyed the property, Annie was visibly thrilled by its charm, gushing over how delightful she found the rest of the house. However, her joy soon turned to dismay when she realised the property was at the upper limit of her budget.

Annie estimated the property would be priced at around £480,000. Yet, she was taken aback when she discovered the actual asking price was a staggering £795,000.

Annie, stunned by the hefty price tag, had thought the cost would be lower due to the property's size. Nonetheless, Alistair quickly pointed out the additional value factors to the prospective buyer.

He explained: "Small in terms of bedrooms I guess but the plot and also we are inside the national park which does push prices up."
