First Dates' unforgettable maitre d' Fred Sirieix is engaged but what is there to know about his other half?

Channel 4's popular dating show, First Dates, returns for season 22 on Tuesday, August 6, at 10pm.

As a new group of hopeful romantics prepare to find their perfect match, viewers are curious about the love lives of the cast, including host Fred Sirieix.

Fred's fiancee is affectionately referred to as Fruitcake, although her real name has not been publicly disclosed.

During his stint on I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! last year, Fred shared the story of how he and Fruitcake first crossed paths.

"The way I met Fruitcake, I met her in Peckham...", he recounted. "I was walking up and she was smiling at me and I was smiling at her and I liked her eyes... I just had to talk to her."

"I asked for her number, I said: 'Shall we go for a drink tonight? ' That was nine years ago."

The couple made their relationship public in 2018 and have remained strong since then, despite keeping her identity a secret. She once confirmed on Instagram: "Fruitcake is not my real name. My mum would never!".

While specific details about her identity and profession remain a mystery, fans have gained some insight into their relationship through her appearances alongside Fred on Celebrity Gogglebox.

Fred and Fruitcake's engagement in 2020 set the stage for a wedding the next year, but COVID-19 dashed those plans. They aimed for the following year, yet fate had other ideas.

On I'm A Celebrity last year, Fred let slip about their Jamaican wedding plans for 2024, catching Fruitcake off guard. "It was actually just meant to be kept between family," she revealed.

Before Fruitcake, Fred's life included Alex Spendolini, with whom he shares two children.
