Gulf Air, the national flag carrier of Bahrain, is keeping its promise to return to China this year.
Based on the latest schedule filings, Gulf Air plans to launch a four-weekly Bahrain-Shanghai service with its Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft this summer.
From 28 May, the flights are scheduled to operate from Bahrain every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday at 2140, arriving in Shanghai the next day at 1150.
From Shanghai, the return flights are expected to depart every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday at 1545, getting back to Bahrain at 2055 on the same evening local time.
Gulf Air’s 787-9 Dreamliners feature 26 Apex business class suites and 256 3-3-3 configured economy class seats.
In 2023, Gulf Air said it wanted to launch flights to both Shanghai and Guangzhou in China.
“China is one of the world’s fastest-growing economies and a global tourism market. It is key to our strategy of calibrated network growth. These flights will offer greater choice and flexible travel experiences for passengers and create new pipelines for trade, tourism and collaboration, benefitting both nations,” Jeffrey Goh, chief executive officer of Gulf Air Group Holding, noted at the time.
Earlier this year, Gulf Air announced Geneva and Rhodes as new destinations this summer and it said that it also would resume flights to Malaga in Spain and Mykonos in Greece.
