The NSW Premier's Department is to start looking for a new CISO following the departure of Adam Smith.
Smith joined the state’s central policy agency, then known as the Premier's Department and the Cabinet Office, in May 2021.
A department spokesperson said a recruitment process for a replacement will start in the new year.
“The Premier's Department is committed to a secure and resilient digital environment that effectively manages cyber risks, safeguards information, and ensures public trust in NSW government services,” the spokesperson said.
“Acting arrangements will be in place to ensure continued operational capability in the interim.”
The spokesperson added that Smith had left to pursue a new role.
The Premier’s Department oversees NSW’s 430,000 public servants.
In 2021, the NSW government rejected calls to move Cyber Security NSW into the Department of Premier and Cabinet, instead leaving it within the NSW Department of Customer Service.
