Arsenal and Newcastle are set to face off in the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final at the Emirates tonight (January 7). Mikel Arteta will be hoping to use the home advantage as an opportunity to put the Gunners in a strong position to reach the final.
The second leg is scheduled to take place at St James' Park on Wednesday, February 5. Arsenal come into the clash following a 1-1 draw with Brighton on Saturday, a result that dealt another blow to their title aspirations.
Eddie Howe's side, meanwhile, are currently one of the Premier League's most in-form teams, boasting a five-game winning streak. In addition to conceding just one goal in that run, they've seen star striker Alexander Isak score 14 goals in all competitions this season.
That includes one in the Magpies' 1-0 win over today's opponents in the Premier League back in November. Having triumphed over Crystal Palace in the quarter-finals, Arsenal will now view the Carabao Cup as a golden opportunity to secure some silverware.
Their last major trophy was the FA Cup triumph in the 2019/20 season. Newcastle, who defeated Brentford in the previous round, haven't won a domestic trophy since 1955.
They did make it to the Carabao Cup final in 2023, where they were beaten 2-0 by Manchester United. As holders Liverpool prepare to face Tottenham in the other semi-final on Wednesday, we take a look at how fans can watch Arsenal vs Newcastle for free.
