Manchester United midfielder Casemiro made it clear that he and his team-mates are ready to give everything for Ruben Amorim. The Portuguese boss' spell as manager of the Red Devils has officially begun after Ruud van Nistelrooy won his final match as interim manager.

United secured a comfortable 3-0 victory over Leicester City to ensure the Van Nistelrooy's brief spell ended with three victories and a draw. Amorim also took charge of Sporting Lisbon for the final time, overseeing a dramatic 4-2 away victory over Braga, which saw the Primeira Liga leaders come from 2-0 down to win.

It was another emotional day for Amorim, who also said goodbye to his old club by beating Manchester City 4-1 in the Champions League in his final home match. Now Amorim is in situ at Old Trafford, Casemiro sent a message to his new boss that he and his team-mates will be fully behind him.

The Real Madrid legend said: "The best thing is that everyone speaks highly of him. He marked an era at Sporting, at a time when FC Porto were the winners.

"Sporting are always among the three favourites, but they are usually a little behind Benfica and FC Porto, who are usually stronger. He marked an era, won titles and had a brilliant career at Sporting. Everyone speaks highly of him."

He added: "He (Amorim) will have an exceptional group here, who want to help, who want to continue growing, who want to learn, who want to be at the top of the table. We are waiting for him with great joy and happiness."

United are residing in a lowly 13th place, but are only four points shy of fourth-placed Arsenal. Amorim's new side are also in the quarter-finals of the League Cup and have four matches left to make up ground and finish in the top eight of the Europa League table.

In contrast, Amorim won every Primeira Liga match this season and also guided Sporting to second in the Champions League table. While United fans watched his former side's 4-1 demolition of City and grew excited, Amorim warned it will take time for his efforts to bear fruit.

He said: "I know how I am going to play in the beginning. You have to start with a structure that you know and then you will adapt with the players that you have.

"Injuries or no injuries, what kind of players, the abilities to defend, to attack. I will discover that in the next few weeks. We don't have a lot of time to train so I have to show something that I know very well. So you can take whatever you want from that question."

Amorim's first match will be on November 24, when United travel to East Anglia to face Ipswich Town. His first clash at Old Trafford will be in the Europa League, four days later, when Norwegian side Bodo/Glimt visit.
