Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold is being eyed up by Real Madrid, with the Spanish side reportedly willing to stump up a transfer fee to prise the player away from Anfield this month. And 21-year-old Reds defender Conor Bradley will be watching the situation with baited breath following comments he made in October.

Alexander-Arnold has been one of Liverpool’s best players since starring for the team during their run to the Champions League title in 2019.

The 26-year-old has made a staggering 333 appearances for his boyhood club and has helped the team win a host of trophies over the years.

Liverpool haven’t managed to tie Alexander-Arnold down to a new deal at Anfield, with his current contract expiring in the summer.

The blockbuster star has piqued the interest of Real Madrid and is now free to agree a pre-contract with the Bernabeu giants.

The Telegraph reported yesterday that Real are even prepared to pay Liverpool £20million to secure an immediate transfer, although the Reds don’t want to lose their star defender mid-season when they are still chasing silverware on all fronts.

Bradley will be desperate to see how the situation unfolds after producing a string of stellar displays when deputising for his team-mate earlier in the season when the England international was injured.

The young player starred during Liverpool’s Premier League victories against Aston Villa and Southampton in November, before dazzling against Real Madrid in a Champions League showdown at Anfield.

The Northern Ireland international, who is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury, has made 12 appearances for Arne Slot’s side in all competitions this campaign. And during the international break in October, he sent a warning to Alexander-Arnold during an interview with BBC Sport NI.

“I want to be playing week in, week out for Liverpool,” he explained. “I know I have a tough challenge ahead of me but I want to give my all every day and see where that takes me.”

He added: “I'm still young. I know I'm not the complete player and I still have loads of places I can improve. As long as I keep working hard in the gym and on the pitch every day I can only get better and hopefully I'll continue to do that.”

Bradley is Alexander-Arnold’s natural successor at right-back but will struggle to jump above his colleague in the pecking order.

But if Real can get a deal over the line for Alexander-Arnold, Bradley may just be thrust into the Liverpool team on a regular basis sooner than he may have imagined.
