David Beckham has looked back on an 'unforgettable' year in a heartfelt social media post, focusing on his loving family, after being overlooked for a knighthood once again.

Despite being snubbed in the end-of-year honours list, which saw former England manager Gareth Southgate receive a knighthood, Beckham chose not to dwell on the disappointment.

Instead, the 49-year-old former England captain shared a touching Instagram post featuring pictures of himself with his wife Victoria and their children Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz, and Harper.

The post also included a poignant final picture of Beckham chatting with his former England manager, the late Sven Goran Eriksson, who sadly passed away in 2024 due to cancer.

Beckham captioned the post: "Happy New Year from myself, my wife and my amazing kids... Thank you for [an] unforgettable year and I want to wish everyone a happy and healthy 2025. Love David x."

Beckham, who already holds an OBE, has faced an uphill battle for a knighthood since shocking emails were leaked in 2017, in which he appeared to brand the honours committee 'unappreciative c***s' and claimed he 'didn't care about being knighted'.

Although Beckham has maintained that some of the leaked emails were doctored, the scandal seems to have hindered his chances of becoming a Sir.

Beckham's business empire is soaring, with his Miami-based football club Inter Miami clinching the Supporters' Shield in 2024 for the best regular season record in MLS, a feat bolstered by the addition of superstar Lionel Messi.

Off the pitch, Beckham's financial success continues to skyrocket as his company, DRJB Holdings Limited, reported a staggering pre-tax profit of £28.75 million, a significant leap from £12.87 million the previous year.

Revenue also saw an uptick, rising two per cent to £72.44 million, while Studio 99 Group, the creators behind his Netflix documentary, enjoyed revenue growth to £11.95 million.

Amidst this financial triumph, Beckham has appeared unfazed by Rebecca Loos' continued media presence discussing their alleged affair from 2004, which he has always denied.

Loos recently featured on the Anything Goes podcast with James English, where she candidly expressed that her decision to go public was a defiant 'f*** you' aimed at Beckham for what she perceived as mistreatment.

She revealed her feelings of hurt and her intention behind selling her story to the News of the World: "I was hurt. Me going public was a 'f*** you mate' for treating me like that.

"Big time. It was. I don't care how powerful you are, how much money you have. It's not okay."

Loos also reflected on the aftermath, noting the disproportionate backlash she and Victoria faced compared to David: "The funny thing is, I got the s***, Victoria got the s***, David f****** never got any s***. That's the world we live in."
