Newcastle striker Alexander Isak has suggested that FPL managers should transfer him out ahead of the Magpies’ trip to Wolves on Sunday. The Sweden international has explained that he takes pleasure from bagging a brace after being removed from teams.

Isak has had a mixed start to the season and was unable to find the back of the net in Newcastle’s opening two matches against Southampton and Bournemouth.

But he popped up with the winning goal against Tottenham last time out as the north east giants won the clash 2-1 to climb to fifth in the table.

Isak has already accumulated 16 FPL points after bagging an assist on the opening day against Southampton as well as three bonus points following his strike against Spurs.

And after being asked whether FPL managers should captain him ahead of the trip to Molineux, the 24-year-old replied: “No. It’s much better to hear when people have transferred me out and then score two goals. That’s a much better feeling.”

Isak also revealed that he doesn’t play the game himself as he stated: “If I did play, I would have become too selfish on the pitch.” And after being asked about Manchester City striker Erling Haaland, he added: “You must have Haaland [in your team] unfortunately.”

Isak has been a revelation in England since joining Newcastle from Real Sociedad. Since his move in the summer of 2022, the star has bagged 36 goals in 71 appearances and is now regarded as one of the best strikers in the Premier League.

He accumulated 100 FPL points during his maiden campaign at St James’ Park after being forced to share gametime with Callum Wilson. But he improved on that tally last season after racking up 172 points.

This time around, he has one of the highest ownerships in the game and is priced at only £8.5million, with hotshot Haaland currently priced at £15.2m.

Isak will be desperate to compete with Haaland for the Premier League Golden Boot this season, but already trails the Norwegian by six goals.

And after his winning strike against Tottenham, the ace said: “I was really please [to get my first goal of the season]. The first goal is always really important and of course it was a great assist from Jacob Murphy and I’m happy that he passed to me.

“Results-wise we’ve done good [this season], performance-wise we can do much better, which can be a good feeling as well.”
