Mohamed Salah has reportedly not ruled out signing a contract extension at Liverpool despite hinting this season could be his last with the club.

Salah threw doubt over his Liverpool future in the aftermath of Sunday's victory over Manchester United by revealing he's unsure if he'll still be at the club next season.

The Egyptian's contract with Liverpool expires at the end of the current campaign with Salah admitting talks between his entourage and the Reds haven't yet taken place.

However, it's believed to be down to Liverpool's reluctance, with Salah said to be open to extending his seven-year stay at the club.

As per Sky Sports, Salah is said to be open to signing fresh terms with the Merseyside outfit, but ultimately the final decision will lie with Liverpool themselves.

The report claims Salah doesn't think he's losing his ability to compete at the highest level and could still be of use to Liverpool next season and beyond.

His showings on the pitch speak for themselves. Salah has started the Arne Slot era on fire and heads into the international break on three goals and three assists, second only to Erling Haaland for G/A contributions so far this season.

But it's mooted Salah himself won't push for talks to take place, with Liverpool needing to put in the leg work if the 32-year-old is to stay at the club.

It comes after Salah hinted that this season is his final with the Anfield outfit, telling Sky Sports: "I had a good summer, I had a long time to stay with myself and to think positive because as you know it's my last year in the club.

"I just want to enjoy it and I don't want to think about it. But I feel I'm free to play football and we'll see what can happen next year."

He continued: "To be fair, I was coming to the game and I said, 'it could be my last time'. The club have not talked to me yet so I will play my last season and see at the end of the season."

When asked by Sky Sports presenter David Jones about him 'missing' Old Trafford, Salah replied: "I don't know with which club but it could be my last game here with Liverpool."

Whereas Slot, who was quizzed about his talisman's future post-match, replied: "It's a lot of ifs. At this moment he's one of ours and I'm really, really happy with him being one of ours.

"He plays really well. We, I, don't talk about contracts from players but I can talk for hours about how Mo played today. Are you interested in that? He was impressive, like the first two games as well.

"If you talk about an individual you don't do justice to all the other ones because I think today you saw a real good team performance."

Liverpool return to action after the international break at home to Nottingham Forest, before their Champions League campaign kicks off against AC Milan in San Siro.
