Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy and sporting director Johan Lange could put together a formidable side for Ange Postecoglou by the end of the summer transfer window.

Spurs have already made several major statements of intent - the latest being the £65million signing of Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth. But what could Postecoglou's line-up look like if Levy and co. splash out on two more recruits?

Tottenham's predicted XI (4-2-3-1)

Goalkeeper: Vicario

No changes needed in the goalkeeper department. Guglielmo Vicario was widely held to be one of the signings of last summer - just £17m from Empoli - after shining in his debut Premier League campaign.

Defence: Porro, Romero, Van de Ven, Udogie

Although Tottenham shipped more than 60 goals in the league last term, Postecoglou couldn't have asked for more from his death-defying quartet. Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven provide pace in the middle, while Pedro Porro and Destiny Udogie are full of attacking threat on either flank. It's no wonder the north Londoners have not made a single defensive signing all summer.

Aston Villa v Athletic Club - Pre-Season Friendly

Defensive midfield: Bissouma, Ramsey

Even with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg gone and Giovani Lo Celso going, competition for minutes at the base of midfield will be intense in 2024/25, made even more so by the big-money signing of Archie Gray. But Gray is only 18, and Spurs are thought to be keen on having one more star in the middle of the park before the window slams shut.

They reportedly offered Lo Celso in a player-plus-cash deal for Jacob Ramsey in early July, although Aston Villa were unwilling to play ball. It would surely take a huge fee to convince Villa to part ways with their highly-rated academy product, but the prospect of pairing the 23-year-old with Yves Bissouma could prove too enticing for Levy to pass up on.

Attacking midfield: Eze, Maddison, Son

Michael Olise got his big move away from Crystal Palace earlier this summer and Eberechi Eze is also attracting widespread interest. Spurs are reportedly front and centre in the hunt for the wide man, who bagged 21 Premier League goals in his past two seasons and made it into England's Euro 2024 squad.

James Maddison was superb under Postecoglou in 2023/24, particularly at the start of the campaign, and with so many talented stars around him, he could once again be trusted to pull the strings. The signing of Solanke would also allow Son Heung-min to slot in on the left, where he has proven so dangerous over the years.

Striker: Solanke

Big things will be expected of the 26-year-old who, at one point, looked as though his stellar reputation at youth level may never translate to the senior ranks. A goal-laden few years at Bournemouth has seen to that.

Solanke must fend off competition from Richarlison, Timo Werner and Son to keep his place through the middle, while the likes of Brennan Johnson and Dejan Kulusevski will also be thirsting for minutes in attacking areas.
