Manchester United have scheduled a meeting today to discuss the future of Victor Lindelof.

The Red Devils are in the heart of a major rebuild, which has primarily focused on incomings at this stage. However, Sir Jim Ratcliffe and co have now turned their attention to reducing the size of their squad and raising additional transfer funds via sales.

Following the departures of Willy Kambwala, Donny van de Beek and Mason Greenwood, Lindelof could be the next player to follow the trio out of the exit of Old Trafford.

According to the Daily Mail, a transfer recruitment meeting has been scheduled for today to discuss potential outgoings, with the future of centre-back set to be addressed.

The Sweden international made 19 Premier League appearances for United last season but is expected to fall further down the pecking order in the 2023/24 campaign due to the arrival of several defenders.

Lindelof is said to be attracting plenty of interest ahead of the final few weeks of the transfer window and the Red Devils are hoping to make a decision on whether he will be sold if an appropriate offer arrives.

Matthijs De Ligt

Erik ten Hag has already welcomed Leny Yoro to his ranks this summer, and a further two defensive incomings are imminent. Bayern Munich’s Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui are both en route to England to complete their medicals with United.

The Red Devils have pursued the pair for several weeks, having seen a joint bid for the defensive duo rejected earlier in the window. Two separate agreements were agreed late last week, and De Ligt has now been spotted travelling out of Munich Airport ahead of the move.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe

Mazraoui’s move has largely hinged on the future of Aaron Wan-Bissaka. The ex-Crystal Palace star was reluctant to leave the Theatre of Dreams this summer and favoured a move to Inter Milan previously if it was ruled that he was being replaced.

However, West Ham pushed to acquire the services of Wan-Bissaka and an agreement was eventually reached on personal terms with the 26-year-old. His move to the Hammers is expected to be completed today as well, with his medical previously booked for Sunday.

It remains to be seen whether Wan-Bissaka is United’s final sale of the window or whether Ten Hag and Ratcliffe rule that Lindelof is also a replaceable asset who can be moved on as part of the squad’s shake-up as well.
