Manchester United star Scott McTominay has reportedly agreed a deal to join Galatasaray but his future lies in the hands of Erik ten Hag. The Scotland midfielder could seal a surprise exit to the Turkish club this summer.

McTominay was a key figure under Ten Hag last season, scoring 10 goals in 43 appearances. However, United need to raise funds to pay for a big-spending summer transfer window and McTominay could be surplus to requirements if a suitable offer is made.

According to Turkish publication A Spor, the 27-year-old has agreed a £4.6million per-year contract with Galatasaray. But there remains several obstacles to the Turkish champions completing the coup.

First, Ten Hag will reportedly have the final say over McTominay’s future. The Dutchman may decide he wants to keep the academy graduate, whose versatility and work-rate has made him an important figure at Old Trafford.

Alternatively, Ten Hag may realise that McTominay’s potential departure represents one of few options for United to receive a big fee for a player. As McTominay came through United’s academy, the money earned from his exit would also represent pure profit and look good on the club’s accounts.

It is also claimed that Galatasaray are yet to agree a transfer fee with United for McTominay. The two clubs have reportedly been in discussions for a long time.

The Red Devils will need to recoup some funds after spending close to £90m already this summer. They beat Real Madrid to the signing of the highly-rated French defender Leny Yoro from Lille, although the 18-year-old seems set for a period on the sidelines after suffering a foot injury during pre-season.

Ten Hag has also strengthened his attack with the addition of Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna. The Dutch forward struck 14 goals across two seasons in Italy after joining from Bayern Munich.

According to the Mirror, United are also closing in on the signing of the highly-rated Norwegian youth international Chido Obi-Martin. The 16-year-old, who has also represented England at U16 level, turned down a scholarship deal at Arsenal and seems set to move to Old Trafford.

Obi-Martin scored a staggering 29 goals in only 17 U18 Premier League matches last season. He also struck 10 goals in one game for Arsenal’s U16s in a huge victory over their Liverpool counterparts.
