Jimmy Lai has case to answer, court rules

The High Court on Thursday ruled that Apple Daily founder Jimmy Lai has a case to answer in his national security trial. He is on trial facing three charges of conspiracy and sedition. The defence had sought to dismiss the case, citing insufficient evidence. On Thursday, the court rejected the bid by the defence and said Lai has a case to answer on all charges. The court also heard that the defendant plans to testify in the trial. The case has been adjourned until November 20. Lai has pleaded not guilty to colluding with foreign forces to endanger national security and conspiring with others to publish seditious material.
