GMB: Guests debate Meghan's Netflix relaunch show
Good Morning Britain sparked an uproar among fans when a heated debate over Meghan Markle's new Netflix show escalated on live TV. The Duchess of Sussex announced her upcoming lifestyle series, 'With Love, Meghan', on Thursday (January 2), dubbed by Netflix as offering "practical how-to's and candid conversation".
Slated to premiere January 15, the programme features eight installments, each half an hour long, with guest appearances from the likes of Hollywood's Mindy Kaling and Meghan's former Suits colleague Abigail Spencer. In the promotional footage released on Thursday, viewers catch glimpses of Meghan adorning a cake with raspberries and collecting honey in sunny California, where she resides with Prince Harry and their two children.
On Friday (January 3), presenters Kate Garraway and Adil Ray welcomed entertainment journalist Stephanie Takyi and outspoken critic Imarn Ayton onto the GMB set to dissect the news of Meghan's venture, but their fiery clash didn't go down well with viewers. Ayton chastised the Duchess for perceived insincerity, particularly criticising her decision to sport "baggy jeans" on the show, while Takyi championed this as an opportunity for the audience to see the "real Meghan".
Social media churned with reactions as viewers aired their grievances on X, once known as Twitter. Comments ranged from dismissive – "Another pointless Meghan segment." – to exasperated: "Why do you at @GMB feel the need to bang on about Meghan Markle? " Another chimed in, expressing indifference with, "Meghan! Who cares? ", while a different user lamented, "Ahhh....end of the week on #GMB and it's Meghan bashing time.", reports the Manchester Evening News.
