Gardeners' World presenter Monty Don sent his fans wild as he issued a surprise career announcement away from the hit BBC 2 show.

He shared two posts from The Dirt News and the Wildside Gardens, one of which said: "New BBC series: Monty Don’s British Gardens 10/01/2025 on @bbctwo.

"For the new series @themontydon travels across some of the country’s most stunning landscapes, heading across the north of England to Northern Ireland…"

The other post read: "Hello, what's going on here then? Monty and Keith chatting all things gardening. Finally, we can share the wonderful news that Keith and Wildside will be featured on Monty Don's British Gardens series which starts in January. All episodes will be available on iPlayer from the 10th January.

"It was a pleasure to welcome @themontydon and the team to the garden and we look forward to seeing the series...something to look forward to in the New Year!"

The news sent Monty's fans wild, as they rushed to congratulate him on his new show, and share their excitement.

One said: "Fantastic about time, fabulous garden that has taken vision, determination and hardworking to achieve, look forward to it."

Another added: "How wonderful, I look forward to watching these," as a third agreed: "Looking forward to this."

A fourth said: "Ooh congratulations. It’ll almost be as good as being there in person. Happy Christmas to everyone at Wildside garden."

This news comes after Monty previously sparked fears he may be leaving Gardners' World sooner rather than later.

In a Radio Times piece earlier this year, he said: "In a stark piece for Radio Times he said: "The logical thing to do is to give up Gardener's World."

He later backpedalled and told The Times: "I was naive," saying he'd made the comments "at the end of a long year".

He added: "I was tired and thought it would be nice to have a rest, but I was naive to say that.

"I can categorically say without any equivocation that I'm very happy to do it for another three years."
