Outlander enthusiasts have been left yearning for more of Jamie Fraser (played by Sam Heughan) and Claire (Caitriona Balfe), despite the couple's recent reconnection on-screen, as Lord John Grey (portrayed by David Berry) - Claire's interim husband - becomes a prisoner of the British army.
As the hit show's fervent viewership encountered scant scenes featuring their beloved protagonists, they took to the official Outlander Instagram to voice their eagerness for more captivating narratives centred on the pair.
The Outlander account teased fans with a suggestive post: "What a coincidence, I choose Jamie and Claire always, too. #Outlander."
This sparked prompt reactions from the show's audience, with one passionate follower commenting: "Then PLEASE give them more screen time, particularly screen time together! They are the heart and soul of the show!" Others chimed in, lamenting the sparse appearances of the central duo this season, which seemed eclipsed by the proliferation of subsidiary plots.
Calls for the series creators to amp up the focus on Jamie and Claire were loud and clear, with pleas for more than mere snippets over the course of an episode: "If you choose them it would be nice to show them more in the show. 10 minutes broken up throughout 55 minutes isn't enough."
To the delight of many, Outlander has since responded positively by releasing three new images showcasing Claire and Jamie, hinting at exciting developments as Jamie gears up to assume the mantle as a General of the American army. The snapshots depict the couple united in an icy pasture, clad aptly for their roles - Jamie donning his military attire and Claire wrapped in a rich, berry-toned wool coat.
Posting on social media, the network shared a first-look photo of Outlander couple Claire and Jamie Fraser. "Did somebody ask for new Claire and Jamie pictures? #Outlander," was written under the post with fans thanking them for the pictures of the beloved couple.
Meanwhile, talking about her role as Claire in an interview with Harper's Bazaar, Caitriona said: "My relationship with Claire has completely evolved over the years.
"In the beginning, you were filling in all of these blank spaces of her history and her memories and then, as the years went on, you're living it, you're creating them in real time.
"And so, in a way, you know, without sounding weird, she lives within you. I think more than anything what I realised is, for me, personally, what an amazing teacher Claire has been."
