Loose Women: Josh Widdicombe 'terrified' by Strictly

Comedian Josh Widdicombe has opened up about his terror-stricken stint on Strictly Come Dancing, confessing that it was the "most terrifying thing" he's ever tackled.

Chatting with the hosts of Wednesday's Loose Women, the 41-year-old recounted his time on the BBC's cherished Christmas Strictly special. Despite relishing the chance to strut his stuff on the dance floor, Widdicombe admitted he was often overcome with nervous perspiration.

In a frank discussion with Kaye Adams, Coleen Nolan, Mariella Frostrup, and Sunetra Sarker, Josh unveiled the sweating saga he faced alongside his dance professional Karen Hauer. He divulged: "It was the most terrifying thing I've ever done."

He then confessed: "So the first two sessions, I was just dripping with sweat so badly!"

Josh added, chuckling at the memory: "Karen, at the end, said- like when we had been going at a month doing this thing- she said, 'I just assumed you were a really sweaty person.' I had such fear sweats!"

The comical confessions didn't stop there as Josh recalled a shopping mishap caused by his anxiety-induced perspiration, saying: "I went to buy a T-shirt like a sports T-shirt beforehand and tried it on. I went to pay for it in Adidas and the woman behind the counter said, 'Oh sorry, someone's tried it on.' It was me!"

Moreover, Widdicombe weighed in on his friend and this year's winner, Chris McCausland's sterling performances. Heaped with praise by Josh, he conveyed: "He was incredible on it. He was absolutely amazing."

Josh pointed out Chris's dazzling transformation on the show, stating: "From week three, you just thought this guy is kind of the star of the whole thing!"

The father-of-two revealed that despite Chris's triumph, the winner himself had grave doubts about clinching victory, reports the Mirror.

Josh made an appearance on Saturday Kitchen last month, where he shared his enjoyment of Strictly, describing it as "so much fun". He revealed: "It's really fun and my daughter's seven and she's a huge fan. I brought her to training to meet Karen and that was really nice."

On the topic of joining the show, Josh expressed his fears, stating: "I am utterly terrified this will end in humiliation and worried I'm going to be so bad I will ruin Christmas for the nation. Why have I done this?"

Viewers can look forward to seeing Josh showcase his dance skills on the Strictly special this Christmas Day.

Loose Women airs weekdays at 12:30pm on ITV1.
