EastEnders fans will be left disappointed tonight as the popular BBC soap is set to be absent from the evening's schedule.
In a gripping episode last night, viewers saw Linda Carter (played by Kellie Bright) confront the grim reality of her life if she continued her battle with alcohol. The harrowing scenes depicted Linda witnessing her own demise.
However, those planning to catch the next instalment on TV tonight will find their plans thwarted as the slot has been taken over by the BBC Sports Personality of the Year awards.
While there will be no EastEnders airing tonight, fans can look forward to episodes on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday at 7.30pm. The episode originally scheduled for Tuesday will now air tomorrow night, pushing the week's fourth episode to Friday.
For those who can't wait to see what unfolds next, Wednesday's episode of EastEnders is already available on BBC iPlayer. The remaining episodes will be released on Wednesday and Thursday mornings at 6am respectively, reports the Manchester Evening News.

Monday's episode marked a significant shift in EastEnders' format as Linda's struggle intensified. Haunted by the events of last Christmas and burdened with guilt, Linda sought solace in alcohol.
Viewers were left reeling as they were led to believe that Linda had met a tragic end, shown vomiting blood and drawing her final breath on a bench in the Square. The narrative then jumped to Linda's funeral, where she was seen 'observing' her family grieving her loss.
Danny Hatchard and Maddy Hill, portraying Lee and Nancy Carter, were seen grappling with their brother Johnny Carter's (played by Charlie Suff) grief. Elaine Peacock, played by Harriet Thorpe, was also shown struggling with her daughter's death.
Nancy was determined to take care of Linda's children, Ollie and Annie, when events took a sudden turn back at Albert Square. Linda decided it was time to quit drinking and enter rehab to support her family.
This festive season on EastEnders, Cindy Beale's clandestine affair with her ex's son Junior is set to be dramatically unveiled in a special Christmas Day double episode of the BBC soap.
*EastEnders will be back on air Wednesday evening at 7.30pm on BBC One, and is available now on BBC iPlayer.
