Outlander: Season seven part two teased in trailer

The much-anticipated Outlander season 7 will make a dramatic return with its second part, and it's hinting at a stormy period for one particular pair.

The executives behind the Starz hit series, set to launch the second segment of season 7 later this very month, have dropped hints of a looming "vengeful" danger targeting the show's Young Ian (John Bell) alongside his wife Rachel (Izzy Meikle-Small).

Peeling back the curtain for an eager audience, members of the Outlander ensemble and production team shared insights with TV Insider about the upheaval in store for viewers.

Caitriona Balfe, who plays Claire Fraser from Diana Gabaldon's celebrated fantasy novels, has affirmed that her character will find herself "in peril".

Yet Claire isn't the sole figure in jeopardy, as Rachel also finds her own life hanging in the balance this season, reports the Daily Record.

David Berry, who plays the Frasers' long-standing companion Lord John Grey, divulges that throughout the latter half of Season 7, his character is driven by "a very pragmatic agenda, which is to safeguard the Frasers".

Faithful as ever, Claire concurs, joined by Ian, whose wife is back in the Colonies - and targeted by the "vengeful" Arch Bug (Hugh Ross).

Embittered, he has sworn retribution on Ian for the inadvertent death of his wife, perhaps seeking an eye for an eye.

Executive Producer Maril Davis shed light on the underlying narrative, exposing that such menace "is one of the reasons Ian has kept himself from opening his heart to Rachel".

Nonetheless, she teased: "We're going to see what happens to our two young lovers."

This follows Davis' recent hint at the Paley Center for Media that an emotionally charged journey awaits fans in the upcoming episodes.

She revealed: "I mean this is such a rollercoaster. [Season] 7b is such a rollercoaster. I always say this every season - I feel like I say, 'Buckle your seatbelts.'

"But this one in particular is an emotional rollercoaster, so I think people should prepare to be, kind of... wrung out."

The second instalment of Outlander's seventh season is slated for release this year, while the eighth and final season is anticipated to premiere in late 2025.

Following the closure of Lionsgate+ in the UK, new episodes of Outlander will be available on Starz and to stream on Prime Video channel MGM+ from Sunday, November 22. You must be an Amazon Prime member before you can sign up for MGM+.
